Level 3 Diploma in Sport
If you not only enjoy taking part in sport but also have a real interest in fitness, nutrition and other areas affecting sports, then this course is for you. It is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to succeed in employment within the sport and fitness industry.
You will be studying:
- Sports development
- Physiology of fitness
- Fitness training and programming
- Assessing risk in sport
- Practical team sports
- Principles of anatomy and physiology
- Sports coaching
- Fitness testing for sport and exercise
- Plus nationally recognised Functional Skills qualifications
You can take full advantage of the sport and fitness facilities at the Henley campus and will be assessed by practical application of skills, presentations, reports and case studies.
If you are intending to progress to University after college please note that the majority of Universities will expect a grade C English and maths GCSE and learners will need to consider this when applying for a level three course. We offer English and Maths GCSE retakes with specific entry requirements.
This qualification is the equivalent to three A Levels and therefore enables access to Higher Education. Alternatively, you may seek employment as this qualification is highly regarded by employers in the sport and exercise industry.
If you are between 19 and 23 years of age when you start this course you may need to pay course fees. However, we can help you with our flexible payment plans.
This course requires 4 GCSEs grade 9-4 (A-C) to include at least one grade 4 (C) in maths or English and one additional grade 3 (C) from either English, maths ,Science or PE, or a level 2 relevant qualification (overall merit profile) and full level two maths or English. All learners must be willing to take part in a range of practical sport and exercise sessions.
Making your application
We will check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you’ll receive an invitation via email to attend an interview with a Curriculum Tutor.
Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
From entry-level qualifications, through to degree-level and specialist professional courses there’s something here for students with little or no formal education right up to career high-flyers. Expect a vibrant environment where you can meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
