Into Employment
Our Into Employment training programmes are designed to support local residents, aged 19+, who may be; unemployed, economically inactive or lack basic work-related skills. As part of the programme you’ll gain essential workplace skills via job-related training in the Sports & Leisure Industry. There will also be a strong focus on job interview techniques and CV writing.
This Sports & Leisure Into Employment programme will give you the opportunity to learn a range of skills in three separate areas, Lifeguard, Swim Teaching and Sports Coaching. This training will be given from experienced trained professionals.
At the end of the programme, you’ll have gained the skills and knowledge to enhance your future employment prospects of working in the Sports and Leisure Industry and will be interviewed for a Job role with CVLife.
The course is 4 weeks in length, consisting of:
- A minimum of 2 weeks face to face delivery in College.
- 1 week work experience placement
- An interview with CVLife for one of the below roles:
- Swim Teacher
- Lifeguard
- Sports Coach
Progression
Upon successful completion of this 4-week programme, you will receive a College Certificate & will have a guaranteed interview for roles at CVLife. *Subject to successful completion of the programme & 100% attendance
The programme is suitable for those aged 19 and over.
Those who wish to interview for a lifeguarding role must be a strong swimmer.
This programme is fully-funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.
To be eligible you must:
- Be 19+ years old
- Live in the West Midlands
- Be on a low wage below £30,000 or unemployed.

Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
