Course Overview

Our Level 1 IT and Media course are for learners who require an understanding of the basic skills and knowledge that we use to move to a level 2 qualification. This course is used primarily for learners who might not have the qualifications currently to move into the level 2 field but who would like the opportunity to build up their skills and have an interest in practising I.T. This course is designed to give you the relevant academic knowledge and skills before progression to higher education.

Duration of Study

The  course is a one-year course. Starting every year in September and will run through to May/June the following year. You will typically attend timetabled lessons at college for 3 days a week.

What you will learn/modules

You will study a range of different modules designed to give you the relevant communication skills and some I.T skills required to progress to a Level 2 course.

Assessment Overview

Assessments will consist of multiple units set to be internally assessed throughout the year. These assessments will be coursework based and usually consist of multiple tasks and criteria that should be completed before submitting.

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 2 or above. Students taking this qualification will benefit from working at a minimum of level 1 in English and maths .

This course is free for 16-18yrs, for all other students fees may apply.

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
