Esports is defined as organised competitive gaming, which is human versus human, either as individuals or in teams. The esports industry is a fast-growing global industry.
The Level 3 Esports course will give you plenty of opportunities to get a hands on experience into the Esports industry through live tournaments, real experience in developing a brand and you will produce and manage your own esports online live-streamed events, fully equipped with shoutcasters, coaches, presenters and stream managers.
Esports offers a unique opportunity to study a sector that crosses over multiple subject areas such as sport, marketing, enterprise, IT and the creatives. It provides an opportunity for alignment of social, physical, mental and financial skills into one qualification to deepen and expand learning. These are skills that are highly valued in the changing and fluid workplace.
The qualification attracts UCAS Tariff points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to entry requirements for many related courses. When taken in a two-year, full-time study programme, learners can progress to higher education degree programmes, such as
- BA (Hons) in Events Management
- BA (Hons) in Media or a BA (Hons) in Esports
Learners should check entry requirements for specific degree programmes with providers.
4 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C in the old grading structure) or above including one in English or maths.
Relevant Level 2 qualification at Merit Level with GCSE/Level 2 in English & maths. If you have a Pass grade you will complete an additional assessment to check course suitability.
In addition to the above all Esports applicants must show that they are able to compete in one of the following game tournament:
Overwatch (provide current SR)
League of Legends
This course is free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

Making your application
We will check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you’ll receive an invitation via email to attend an interview with a Curriculum Tutor.
Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
From entry-level qualifications, through to degree-level and specialist professional courses there’s something here for students with little or no formal education right up to career high-flyers. Expect a vibrant environment where you can meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
