This is a hands-on and theoretical course where you will learn the basic skills to prepare you for a career as a bricklayer in the construction industry. It’s designed for students who have a desire and ambition to become a tradesperson in the construction industry. The course is designed to help you progress your training within a practical environment that also includes written assignments. Our expert tutors, who’ll expect you to be self-motivated and keen to achieve, will teach you subjects including: It allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Bricklaying. It covers the following skills:
- Carrying out Blocklaying activities
- Carrying out Bricklaying activities
- Carrying out Cavity Walling activities
- Contribute to Setting Out and Building of Masonry Structures up to Damp Proof Course
There’ll be a mix of hands-on work and written projects, followed by practical synoptic tests and a theory online test for each unit. With this course you’ll be taking an important step forward in the next stage of your career as a bricklayer in the construction industry and gaining the talents employers are keen to employ. This course is a Study Programme which consists of:
- Vocational Qualification
- Work Experience
- Tutorial
- Maths*
- English*
*If you have not already achieved a GCSE pass at grade C or above in English and Maths you will study Maths and/ or English as an integral part of your college programme.
GCSE Grade 3 (or equivalent) in English and maths
This course is free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 1 qualification.

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
