About Skills Bootcamps
If you’re aged 19 and over and looking to change sectors or progress in your current industry, a Skills Bootcamp could be your next step to a better job.
Developed in partnership with local employers, education providers and authorities, Skills Bootcamps aim to help fill skills gaps and vacancies in local areas.
Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer.
A Skills Bootcamp could be for you if you are:
- living or planning to work in the West Midlands
- looking to progress in your current sector
- looking to change jobs or explore a new industry
- currently employed or self-employed
- recently unemployed.
Insulation Technician Skills Bootcamp
As we move towards the UK’s goal of achieving net-zero by 2050 and work to build better quality, greener and more sustainable places to live and work it’s more important than ever that tradespeople, and those looking for a career in the industry have the very latest knowledge to help us achieve these green targets.
Our Insulation Technician Skills Bootcamp will give you the chance to learn a range of building insulation skills that will provide you with an opportunity to gain a new role working within the energy sector.
During the Skills Bootcamp, you’ll learn to carry out a range of insulation measures including spray foam insulation, internal and external wall insulation, cavity wall and loft insulation. You’ll also be given energy efficiency advice and an awareness of asbestos in buildings as well as working from heights training.

A hard hat and high-vis will be provided. Please wear your own safety boots.

Completing a Skills Bootcamp leads to a guaranteed job interview with a local employer, helping you to get a better job.
No previous knowledge in the subject is needed – you just need a good grasp of the English language and the willingness to learn new skills.
Our Skills Bootcamp is fully funded for those living or planning to work in the West Midlands, unemployed individuals, those that are self-employed or those not being co-funded by their employers. 90% funding is available for SMEs and 70% funding is available for other businesses.
To be funded by the WMCA, residents must:
- be aged 19+
- have the right to work in the UK
- meet residency requirements
- live in England and
- are either a West Midlands resident and/or move into a role within the West Midlands.
