Abdul Taps Into Digital Security Knowledge To Unlock Apprenticeship Potential

Abdul miah is tapping into his cyber security knowledge to help apprentices unlock their potential.

A Coventry College trainer is tapping into his digital security knowledge to help learners unlock their potential on a new apprenticeship.

Abdul Miah, Technical and Digital Trainer for Apprenticeships, will support the delivery of a new Cyber Security Technician apprenticeship which the College launched in January.

He will call on his first class honours university degree in Computer Networking and Security along with his IT security experience in industry to guide learners through this exciting programme and help match them with employers.

With a growing skills gap in cyber security there are now lots of opportunities in this area as businesses look to protect themselves against this growing threat.

Abdul is already working closely with apprentices across the College and helping them to achieve excellent results on their programme modules.

He said: “I’m excited to be supporting the delivery of this apprenticeship as IT and cyber security is an area that I’m passionate about.

“I covered large parts of security as part of my IT degree course and have built on that by focusing on the security side of IT during my time in industry.

“Hopefully, I can help to support and nurture apprentices and pass on that knowledge as they work towards their Level 3 apprenticeship qualification.”

The Level 3 Cyber Security apprenticeship will support businesses by providing front line cyber security support, help them to monitor security threats and create a security culture within an organisation.

It will also give apprentices an opportunity to gain new skills and develop in this fast-growing area of work, with opportunities for progression in the workplace.

Glynis Partis, Apprenticeship and Workplace Learning Operations Manager at Coventry College, said: “We’re delighted that Abdul is part of the team at Coventry College and will be delivering on this new standard.

“He is already helping our apprentices to achieve excellent results and we feel that with his digital and security knowledge, he is the perfect fit for this programme.

“We are expecting to receive a lot of interest in this apprenticeship which highlights the importance of cyber security in the modern world.”
