Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design
This course is aimed to develop your creative art and design skills and build up a portfolio of work demonstrating your individual artistic potential, in a wide range of subject areas, which can be used to progress to higher education of future employment.
This is a Study Programme course which, if successful, leads to the 90 credit qualification over one year and progression to the full 180 credit qualification over 2 years.
You will study a range of materials, techniques and processes within the field of Art & Design, and then develop your creative potential through a series of projects such as “live” projects (for outside placements or charities) working towards specialising in your own chosen areas.
The course has very good enrichment activities including regular trips and visits to local and regional art galleries for artists and curators talks. A highlight of our course is a week-long residential trip to either London, Florence or Paris.

- Work Experience
* If you have not already achieved a GCSE pass at grade C or above in English and Maths you will study Maths and/ or English as an integral part of your college programme.
This course is free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

This course requires 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C in the old grade structure) or above including an art based subject and one in English or maths.
A relevant Level 2 qualification at Merit Level with GCSE/Level 2 in English & maths. If you have a Pass grade you will complete an additional assessment to check course suitability.
A portfolio of your work is required for presentation at interview.
Making your application
We will check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you’ll receive an invitation via email to attend an interview with a Curriculum Tutor.
Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
From entry-level qualifications, through to degree-level and specialist professional courses there’s something here for students with little or no formal education right up to career high-flyers. Expect a vibrant environment where you can meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
