This course will give you an introduction to the modern online world and provides a first look at how the main building blocks of technology systems work. Starting with your own experiences, you will extend your knowledge of online services and investigate the technology and software that supports them.

You will study:

  • Digital Graphics
  • Database
  • Software Development
  • Website Development
  • Installing Computer Hardware

You will have appropriate visits from local IT companies, meet successful IT professionals as well as trips to local venues to explore IT in the workplace.

You will be assessed via continuous assessment of coursework, assignments exams and practical tests.

This course will allow you to progress to higher-level qualifications such as BTEC Nationals in Computing. Alternatively, you can enter employment in a range of roles including data operation, IT support and business applications.

 

Course may be free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

For all other students fees apply:
1st year course fee £1292; Exam Fee £114.

An appropriate Level 1 qualification with a merit, including Functional Skills, or one relevant GCSE grade 4 (C) or above, plus a positive school report and the successful completion of an interview.

Making your application

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
