Coventry College is delighted to be working with commercial fit-out specialists Inside Limited again after securing £1.5m of Post-16 Capacity Funding from the Department for Education to develop its courtyard into a covered quad, expanding its teaching and learning and student centric spaces significantly. The building works will be completed in August 2024 and will enable staff, students and employers to access a high quality, flexible and highly collaborative space to innovate in.

The funding comes from the Department for Education’s Post-16 Capacity Fund which allocated funding to a number of post-16 providers in 2023/24 to support them in accommodating 260,000 additional 16- to 19-year-olds entering the education sector as a result of a demographic spike.

Coventry College’s admissions numbers are at their highest since merger in 2017 so it is timely that it has been given a share of the funding available to expand its teaching and learning and student spaces to accommodate the boom in numbers.

The College has invested over £3m of capital into its city centre campus in 2023/4 alone following on from an incredibly successful 2022/23 where, after securing England’s largest Strategic Development Fund (£1.8m), it expanded construction, digital and motor vehicle workshops to develop electric vehicle and retrofit training as well as hi-tech esports classrooms as part of its Charge Up Your Future campaign to meet regional employer skills needs.

Craig Frame, CEO of Inside Limited said; “We are delighted to be back at Coventry College following a successful and robust procurement process. We are excited to see the College prospering and securing capital funding to enhance its student experience and we know that we can bring their vision to create a collaborative, fresh and vibrant set of flexible teaching and student spaces to reality by August 2024. We enjoy working with Coventry College where our values and commitment to putting the student experience first are truly aligned.”

Carol Thomas, Principal and CEO of Coventry College said; “We have invested considerable capital into future proofing our campus to be accessible to our staff, students, employers and wider community to ensure that they can access resources to enrich their lives and further their opportunities to progress. I am thrilled that we have secured funding from central government to expand our teaching and learning and student spaces to accommodate the growth of 16–19-year-olds studying in Coventry and am excited to see this brilliant space opening in August 2024.”
