What does the qualification cover?
The purpose of this qualification is to increase your knowledge and awareness of the Prevent Duty and safeguarding, including online safety. You will develop your knowledge of safeguarding in an environment where you have a duty of care.
Who it is suitable for?
This qualification is suitable if you are responsible for safeguarding others or if you wish to develop knowledge of this topic.You may wish to access this qualification with a view to progress to further qualifications or employment, or to develop within your current job role.
How is the qualification structured? To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent, you are required to successfully complete the mandatory units:
- Understanding the Prevent Duty
- Understanding Safeguarding
- Understanding Online Safety
How is it assessed?
To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent, you must successfully demonstrate your achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units. This is achieved by completing assessments provided in the learning resources. The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent is internally assessed.
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. You must be aged 19+ and resided in the EU for the last 3 years in order to access funding.
This course is free of charge*, however, there is a charge of £125 which will be payable if you do not complete the course.

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
