What does the qualification cover?
The purpose of this course is to provide learners with an opportunity to develop an understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) relevant to their current or future roles and will equip them with basic understanding of techniques for preventing and addressing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in practice.
How is the qualification structured?
To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences, you are required to successfully complete the mandatory units:
- Exploring Childhood and Family Structures
- Introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences
- Understand Strategies to Improve Outcomes for Children Affected by Adverse Childhood Experiences
How is it assessed?
To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences, you must successfully demonstrate your achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units. This is achieved by completing assessments supported by learning resources.
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. You must be aged 19+ and resided in the EU for the last 3 years in order to access funding.
The course is free*, however, there is a charge of £125 which is payable if the student does not complete the course.

Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
