Course Overview

This course is a short, sharp introduction to Barbering services. You will develop skills in club cutting, scissor over comb and the use of clippers and freehand cutting techniques.

Learning outcomes will be:

  • Introduction to basic health and safety
  • Styling men’s hair
  • Cutting men’s hair
  • Skin fades
  • Men’s facial hair

You will be assessed by:

  • Practical tasks
  • Short knowledge and understanding tasks completed in class with your tutor

This course is an evening course offer, will run over 4 weeks commencing in September 2024. Attendance is required for 6 hours per week on a Tuesday AND Thursday evening and this programme is aimed at learners aged 19 and over (adult only)

There are no course specific qualifications required to join this course. However, there is an expectation candidates have dexterity skills and a good standard of English. A practical activity and a short written test will be given at interview to assess suitability.

£250.00 course fee (subject to change)

Plus £100-£150.00 for a Barbering kit (this must be purchased in advance of the course starting by students)

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
