Summary of Role

Are you an experienced practitioner who could provide learning support to students presenting with learning differences, disabilities, health or social needs that may impact on their learning?

Are you able to develop and use personalised strategies that optimise learning for students of all abilities?

Are you keen to ensure that students are prepared for today’s digital world and can access the assistive technologies that will make their learning easier and accessible?

If so, we have exciting opportunities for Learning Support Practitioners to join our ALS team, part of our wide-ranging Learner Services team

In this pivotal role you will provide support to students with additional needs enabling them to achieve success on their chosen programme of study and take their next steps into further learning, work or training

A key part of the role is for you to encourage and motivate our students to maximise their learning potential. In addition, you will support students with written, oral and practical activities as appropriate. It is also essential that you assist the students with the development of their English and maths skills in order to achieve their programme of study.

The role may require you to support learners within areas such as construction, motor vehicle and health and social care.

To be successful in this role you will need to be an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills and have relevant experience within this field. Experience of working with challenging behaviour and foundation level learners would be desirable.

You will also need to have the following qualification:

  •  Level 2 Maths and English Qualifications
  •  Appropriate Level 3 qualification
  •  Relevant qualification in teaching and learning (desirable)

The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
