Coventry College Sports and Public Services Graduate Coach has been recognised as Graduate Coach of the Year at the Nuneaton and Bedworth sports forum 50th anniversary awards

The aim of the awards is to celebrate and honour the sporting talent in the Nuneaton and Bedworth area. It is a chance to showcase all the hard work and determination these chosen individuals put into their work.

Ben spoke about the variety he has in his job, being able to work across two different sites – Coventry College city campus and the Alan Higgs centre. On our Sports and Public Service courses students are given the best of both worlds, with access to high quality sports equipment to help with their physical training, whilst also having the College campus for their academic studies.

Hollins said: “I get to connect with learners from both the Sports courses and the Uniform Public Services course. Being a small part of the learner’s development is the reason I come to work each day”

And, when talking about being nominated for this prestigious award Hollins added: “The evening was fantastic sharing in the celebrations with my fellow coaches, James and Simon, and being surrounded by so many athletes, coaches, and sporting personalities. Winning the award on the night was a fantastic feeling, but being able to share this with my other coaches was the highlight of the evening.”

Here at Coventry College, we pride ourselves on not only having staff who have a passion for their work but who strive to give our students the best education. Hollins said:

“We don’t do it for the awards and the limelight we do it to give the students the opportunities to enjoy the game that so many of us love. Sharing in their highs and consoling them in their lows is my trophy.”
