Course Overview

This qualification has been produced to increase awareness of the benefits of retrofit to the environment and emphasise good practice in achieving the best results. It will be of interest to those involved in construction, housing, planning and with a general interest in reducing carbon emissions.

Modules/What you will learn

This qualification is made up of 3 mandatory units that will provide learners with the knowledge of why retrofit is so important to environmental sustainability, what it is including the principles, standards, regulations, roles and materials. This course has a total of 32 guided learning hours, delivered in-person and online. Learners will build an understanding of:

  • Domestic Retrofit Drivers, Processes, and Roles
  • Domestic Retrofit Principles, Materials, and Tools
  • Domestic Retrofit Performance, Standards, and Regulations

The course will be delivered through a blended learning approach (largely distance learning).

Qualification and Assessment Methods

Learners who complete the units will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and resources to initiate and remain engaged with within the industry to suit their circumstances.

In order to achieve this qualification a learner must complete all units as mandatory. The assessment criteria determine the standard required to achieve each unit and allow for a variety of assessment methods to be used as appropriate to the environment the qualification is delivered in. There is no examined assessment element in this qualification.

On completion of this qualification learners will be prepared to progress to level 2 qualifications in a range of occupations within the sector, this could include but not limited to apprenticeships.

Employer Fees:
Construction Industry Trading Board (CITB) have approved this qualification for Short Qualification Grant funding at a rate of £600/learner. This means that if you are a CITB registered employer you are entitled to claim £600 for every employee who completes the qualification.
