Coventry College played host to STEAM event Robot Day once again! A collaborative initiative with Imagineering and The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Robot Day aims to inspire and educate young people and their influencers about careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) through a variety of engaging activities and workshops centred around robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI).

The event, which attracted 1000 guests, offered a diverse range of experiences designed to ignite curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of STEAM fields. From creative workshops to interactive displays and talks on cutting-edge technologies, Robot Day provided a dynamic platform for exploration and learning.

One of the key highlights of the event was the active involvement of Coventry College students and staff, who played a pivotal role in both the planning and execution of Robot Day. Their dedication and enthusiasm were evident as they volunteered their time and expertise to ensure the success of the event, showcasing the college’s commitment to nurturing future talent in Green skills and STEAM careers.

Through hands-on activities and exhibits, participants had the opportunity to gain practical insights into the world of robotics and automation. From programming robots to exploring the applications of AI in various industries, attendees were encouraged to unleash their creativity and imagination while discovering the limitless possibilities of STEAM.

Amidst the bustling activities of Robot Day at Coventry College, the event received a special visit from Coventry’s Mayor, highlighting the significance of the occasion for the local community.

In addition to showcasing the latest advancements in technology, Robot Day also served as a platform for inspiring talks and discussions led by industry experts and thought leaders. These sessions provided valuable insights into the diverse career pathways available in STEAM fields, inspiring attendees to pursue their passions and aspirations.

Reflecting on the success of Robot Day, Andrew Schneider, Director of Engineering at Coventry College, expressed his excitement about the impact of the event.

“Events like Robot Day provide our students with a fantastic opportunity to apply the skills they have learned on their college programmes.  For example, Engineering and Motor Vehicle students were able to teach members of the public about some of the innovations in technology, including how robotics and Artificial Intelligence are changing the way the world is working and the way electric and hybrid vehicles are designed.  Students from across the college were able to work with employers in a public facing environment while also promoting a wide range of exciting STEAM disciplines to children from the region.”

As Robot Day drew to a close, participants departed with newfound knowledge, inspiration, and a renewed sense of excitement for the world of STEAM. With the support of partners like Imagineering and IET, Coventry College remains committed to empowering individuals of all ages to pursue their passions and make a meaningful impact in the ever-evolving fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics
