Local Schools Celebrate Women in Construction at Coventry College

Female pupils from local schools were welcomed to Coventry College for a dedicated Women in Construction event designed to inspire the next generation to explore careers in the built environment.
The event brought together industry professionals and college staff to provide insight into the wide range of opportunities available within construction, a sector that has traditionally been male-dominated. Leading organisations including Taylor Wimpey, National Grid, Federation of Master Builders, Balfour Beatty and Miller Homes attended the morning, sharing career journeys, advice and insights into the skills needed to succeed in the industry.
A key part of the event saw pupils tour the College’s specialist construction facilities, where they had the opportunity to take part in practical activities. Supported by experienced staff and some of the College’s current female construction learners, the pupils were able to gain hands-on experience and a real feel for what studying and working in construction can involve.

By combining employer engagement with practical taster sessions, the event aimed to challenge stereotypes, raise aspirations and build confidence among young women considering their future career paths.
Coventry College remains committed to working with industry partners to promote inclusive pathways into construction and empower more women to pursue rewarding careers in the sector.
