Coventry College is celebrating the success of its latest Into Employment course, developed in collaboration with Hospitality UK.

This course aims to help unemployed local residents gain vital workplace skills and transition into careers in the hospitality sector.

The programme, tailored specifically for the hospitality industry, saw nine dedicated students complete their college training this month. These students will now move on to valuable work experience placements with leading employers including Holiday Inn, Premier Inn, and Hotel Indigo.

The course was created as part of the wider Into Employment initiative, which supports unemployed individuals in Coventry by offering job-related training that leads directly to real employment opportunities. The hospitality focused programme provided hands-on learning, practical skill development, and insights into professional conduct within the industry.

To mark the end of the college training, the students hosted a special mocktail-making event on campus. Staff from across Coventry College were invited to attend and experience the students’ professionalism and creativity first-hand. Guests were treated to a variety of non-alcoholic cocktails, crafted and presented by the learners in a real-world hospitality setting.

Staff were overwhelmingly impressed with the students’ skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm. One college representative commented, “The students demonstrated exceptional professionalism and confidence – it’s clear they’ve learned a lot in a short time. We’re excited to see how they thrive in their placements.”

In addition to hands-on training, the course featured industry talks and sessions led by well-known employers such as Mellors Catering and Five Guys, who offered valuable advice and insight into working in the fast-paced world of hospitality.

With their work placements now underway, Coventry College and its partners are eager to support the students as they take the next step towards employment. The success of this course has already sparked interest in future cohorts and partnerships, solidifying Coventry College’s commitment to supporting the local community through skills development and job readiness.
