Travel and Tourism Students Forge Strong Links with Swissport and British Airways for Career-Ready Opportunities

Coventry College’s Travel and Tourism students are gearing up for exciting career opportunities, thanks to new and impactful partnerships with industry giants Swissport and British Airways.
Preparation for successful careers
Through hands-on experiences, expert talks, and exclusive training opportunities, these students are receiving unparalleled preparation for successful careers in the aviation and travel industries.
Swissport, a leading provider of ground services for airlines worldwide, has been actively involved with Coventry College’s Travel and Tourism programme. Representatives from Swissport recently visited the college, delivering valuable industry talks and interview preparation sessions to students. The company’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals has resulted in an exciting development: any students aged 18 and above, who are set to leave college in early 2025, will be fast-tracked into interviews for roles with Swissport.
This partnership marks a significant milestone for the college, offering students a direct pathway into employment with a global leader in ground handling and aviation services. The fast-track interview process, scheduled for January and February, is an incredible opportunity for those who have built their skills throughout the academic year. Swissport’s involvement with the students at Coventry College ensures that they are not only learning the theory of travel and tourism but also gaining the practical insights and industry connections necessary to launch successful careers.
Practical, real-world experience
In addition to Swissport’s engagement, Coventry College is also partnering with British Airways to provide its Level 2 Cabin Crew students with crucial, real-world training. British Airways will be delivering Safety and Emergency Procedures (SEP) training, a certification essential for anyone pursuing a career as cabin crew. SEP training, which includes life raft drills, fire safety procedures, and pilot incapacitation scenarios, is typically not available for in-class instruction at the college level, making this collaboration with British Airways a unique and invaluable opportunity for the students.
The SEP training will take place at British Airways’ headquarters at Heathrow Airport, where students will experience real-world airline operations and safety protocols firsthand. Upon completing the course, students will receive a certificate, further enhancing their employability in the aviation sector.
The combination of Swissport’s recruitment support and British Airways’ specialised training ensures that Coventry College students are not only gaining the academic knowledge they need but also the practical, real-world experience that will make them stand out in an increasingly competitive job market.
With these industry-leading partnerships, Coventry College’s Travel and Tourism students are well on their way to taking off on their professional journeys.
