After impressing on her work experience Coventry student has landed a role at a local nursery

Aleyna Erkal has thanked Blossoms Day Nursery for her work experience & Coventry College for supporting her goal of becoming an early years practitioner

After successfully completing work experience Coventry College student Aleyna has landed a role at a local nursery, thanking both Blossoms and the College for their support. Aleyna completed her work experience as part of her Level 3 Early Years Educator course.

The course helps learners gain a Technical Diploma in Childcare and Education from the NCFE Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education. It also enables them to take part in 750 hours of practical experience, teaching learners the skills and knowledge to work in an early years setting and the platform for further study at Higher Education.

After gaining confidence and showing care, initiative and professionalism with children and parents during her placement, Aleyna was offered a part time position at the nursery once she completes her Level 3 course.

Aleyna said: “Being onsite has been very beneficial to me throughout my apprenticeship and I have been able to learn lots of information about the children’s individualised development.

“The management have been very welcoming and so helpful. The experience has taught me so much about the best way childcare should be done.

“It has been such a positive experience from working my placement to being offered a job at the end.

“I have also been able to experience all age ranges working at Blossoms and worked to meet the needs of all children and abilities. In five years’ time I still see myself working with children as a full-time practitioner.”

Kianna Hamilton, of Blossoms Day Nursery on Beake Avenue in Coventry, said: “Blossoms hired Aleyna because she showed a good, positive attitude towards working in the setting and helping support children’s development.

“At the start of Aleyna’s placement, she was very quiet and shy and would wait for instructions to do things. Now her confidence is flourishing and she is very comfortable in communicating with management, parents and outside professionals.

“Aleyna showed her professionalism throughout her time here and proved she would be a good asset to the team.”
