Following feedback and attendance to the Construction Skills of the Future panel hosted by Coventry College last year, the College’s Commercial Skills team has delivered an accredited NOCN Level 2 Damp and Mould course to front line Citizen Housing staff, in line with government guidelines and social housing requirements to reduce the risk of damp and mould in their tenanted properties.

Meeting government legislation for social housing

The course content is focussed on the fundamental knowledge and understanding of the training required to provide learners with the knowledge to identify, remedy or treat damp and mould in the home.

Emma Ingram, Head Employer Engagement and Careers Lead at Coventry College said,

“Coventry College is fully committed to working with local and regional employers to ensure we support with the up-skilling of staff to meet government legislation. We were delighted to be given the opportunity to work collaboratively with Andy Stock, Citizen Housing’s Operations Manager to deliver a training programme which Citizen Housing identified as a socially responsive landlord, take a proactive approach to reduce the risk of damp and mould issues occurring in rented properties.”

Emma went on to say:

“Going forward the college is looking to develop its newly refurbished workshops into a Retrofit centre of Excellence for the West Midlands area, and further develop a suite of Retrofit training courses for 2025 and beyond.”
