New Multi-Skills Bootcamp in Partnership with Lovell Homes

Coventry College Partnership with Lovell Homes to support skills gaps
Coventry College and Lovell Homes are delighted to be given the opportunity to work collaboratively to support their first Multi-Skills Bootcamp.
The Multi-Skills Bootcamp is designed to educate adult learners from the Coventry area on a range of construction techniques; including painting and decorating, plastering, carpentry and kitchen fitting, to support Lovell Homes’ aim to refurbish over 10,000 tenanted properties over a 10 year period.
Coventry College has been successfully awarded funding from WMCA to deliver several Skills Bootcamps, in line with Skills for Jobs White Paper, to strengthen the links between employers and Further Education providers to deliver short, sharp training which meet the needs of businesses. The College has been successfully delivering Skills Bootcamps over the last 18 months working with local and regional employers to deliver a flexible, tailored training course designed with the employer to support with up-skilling & recruitment of adults currently seeking employment into their industry.
Carl Yale, Regional Refurbishment Director for Lovell Homes said:
We have secured a large contract with Citizen housing delivering replacement kitchens and bathrooms for the next 10 years across Coventry and the wider West Midlands. The building industry is facing a skills crisis so we approached Coventry College to explore the skills bootcamp initiative to create a short training course to provide opportunities for learners to gain some practical building skills both in the classroom and in a real working environment and find a suitable pathway into the industry.
Emma Ingram, Head Employer Engagement and Careers Lead at Coventry College said:
Coventry College is fully committed to helping the Construction industry raise awareness and respond to regional skills gaps in the West Midlands as we have worked with national and regional employers to develop skills bootcamps over the last 18 months. It is our pleasure to now be working with Carl Yale and his team at Lovells to support with their recruitment of multi-skilled Trades staff.
Coventry College works in partnership with several local referral agencies across Coventry – including Coventry Job Centre Plus, Coventry Job Shop and the National Careers Service to recruit adult learners into the Skills Bootcamps.
