Helene Dearn, Director of Employment Skills at WMCA visits Coventry College

Helene Dearn OBE, Director of Employment Skills at West Midland Combined Authority (WMCA) attended a tour of facilities at Coventry College. She was greeted by Principal Carol Thomas and Vice Principal of Business Growth and Engagement Gemma Knott.
Making a difference for adult learners
Helene was keen to visit the college to understand how the funding from the combined authority is making a positive difference to our adult learners.
She attended an Interview Techniques simulation session in the VR room where adult learners were practicing their interviews. Helene joined in and was able to see the incredible innovative teaching the learners experience at Coventry College.
She visited the Electrical Engineering practical session where she was able to was able to see some of the brilliant skills the students learn to prepare them for real work. She also viewed the Motor Vehicle and Engineering facilities.
Helene, like all of our external visitors was complimentary about what she saw, the college, the learners and the staff.
