Coventry College awarded over £1.3m in government funding to upgrade facilities
Coventry College has been awarded £1,352,714.97 in government funding to carry out vital repairs and upgrades to its campus and facilities – part of a major £302 million investment in further education (FE) colleges across England. The news comes just weeks after the College celebrated a Good grading by Ofsted.
Commitment to investing in education
The funding, unveiled by the government earlier this month, as part of its Plan for Change, will allow the College to address longstanding maintenance challenges and modernise its facilities to better support learners and staff. The funding marks the first condition improvement allocation for FE colleges in two years and demonstrates a renewed commitment to investing in skills, education, and future workforce development.
Impact on the learner experience
“This is a game-changer for Coventry College,” said Gemma Knott, Coventry College’s Vice Principal for Business Growth, Engagement and Partnerships.
“We are delighted to receive this funding, which will enable us to repair key areas of our campus and invest in safe, modern, and accessible learning spaces that match the ambition of our learners and the needs of local employers.”
The College will use the funding to upgrade infrastructure and ensure its learning environment remains fit for purpose in the years ahead. With greater autonomy granted to colleges on how to prioritise spending, Coventry College will focus on projects that have the biggest impact on learner experience.

The investment forms part of a wider government initiative to ensure FE colleges can continue to play a central role in training the next generation of skilled workers, with a particular focus on supporting key sectors like construction, engineering, and green technologies.
