Coventry College has once again demonstrated our commitment to community empowerment and job creation with the launch of our latest Into Employment Programme, designed to equip individuals with the skills necessary to secure meaningful employment.

The most recent addition to this initiative is the SEND Transport Training Course, which prepares participants to become chaperones for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), facilitating their transport to and from school.

This innovative course, which has gained significant interest, is currently training a diverse group of 20 students, aged between 26 and 67. These individuals are receiving comprehensive job-related training aimed at enhancing their employability. The curriculum focuses on critical areas such as customer service and understanding the unique needs of SEND students, ensuring that the future chaperones are well-prepared for their roles.

In addition to specialised training, the course provides valuable instruction on essential employment skills, including interview techniques and CV writing. This particular approach ensures that participants are not only ready to perform their specific job roles but are also equipped with the broader skills necessary for successful job hunting and career advancement.

The training program spans one intensive week, culminating in a job interview scheduled for Monday. These interviews will determine the successful candidates who will start their new roles as SEND student chaperones in September, coinciding with the new school term.

Participants have expressed their appreciation for the course, highlighting its practical relevance and the supportive learning environment provided by Coventry College.

The Into Employment courses have a proven track record of success, with many graduates securing employment shortly after completion. By addressing both job-specific training and general employability skills, Coventry College is helping to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, fostering a more inclusive and skilled workforce.

As the current cohort prepares for their interviews, the community eagerly anticipates the positive impact these newly trained chaperones will have on the lives of SEND students. The success of this course underscores the vital role educational institutions play in supporting lifelong learning and workforce development.

Coventry College continues to set a benchmark for vocational training, demonstrating how targeted educational programs can drive employment and contribute to the well-being of the community. With courses like SEND Transport Training, they are not just offering education; they are opening doors to new opportunities and brighter futures.
