Coventry College recently transformed its campus for its newest cohort of students during the annual CovFest, a lively and engaging festival created to welcome 16-18 year olds who have applied to join the college in September.

Designed to blend education, entertainment, and community spirit, the event offered prospective students a memorable first taste of college life.

The day began with students visiting their chosen curriculum areas, where they had the opportunity to meet the teaching staff who will support them throughout their studies, explore the college’s modern facilities, and take part in interactive taster sessions. These sessions provided a preview of their future courses and helped ease the transition to college life by allowing students to start building connections with tutors and peers.

Following their academic introductions, students were invited to enjoy a summer-themed BBQ in the college canteen. With ice cream, slush puppies, and a variety of treats on offer, the festive spirit was in full swing before the afternoon’s entertainment kicked off.

The second half of the day transformed the college grounds into a bustling festival site. Live performances from Performing Arts students brought high energy to the stage, while classic fairground games sparked friendly competition. Candyfloss and popcorn machines added a touch of nostalgia and completed the carnival atmosphere, creating a space where students could relax, have fun, and soak in the college’s vibrant community.

CovFest serves a dual purpose: not only is it a celebration, but it also plays a key role in helping new students feel comfortable and confident ahead of their official enrolment. It’s a valuable opportunity for them to familiarise themselves with the campus, meet future classmates, and connect with college staff in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

“Thanks to the hard work of Marketing and the Curriculum teams after an amazing year at Coventry College we were able to dedicate three days to supporting our September learners on a series of upbeat and exciting transition days. We had brilliant performances from our performing arts and music areas, BBQs, games and freebies and most importantly subject specific tasters and are so pleased that our applicants enjoyed their time with us. We are working throughout the summer to make sure that future students know where to go to get help and support in enrolling at Coventry College this summer. Please get in touch with us on live chat, via email at [email protected] or by giving us a call.” – Gemma Knott, Vice Principal Business Growth, Engagement and Partnerships

As Coventry College continues to grow and innovate, events like CovFest remain a key part of its commitment to creating an inclusive and inspiring environment—where every learner feels supported from the very beginning.
