Coventry College Plastering Students Build Connections in the Construction Industry
The Construction department at Coventry College, particularly the Plastering course, is making significant strides in connecting with key players in the construction world.
Recent visits from industry leaders have opened new opportunities for students, enhancing their learning experience and providing valuable resources.
Jay Crawford from K Rend recently visited the college, bringing along literature and materials for students to keep. Notably, Crawford announced plans to provide a rendering machine for demonstrations, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with advanced equipment used in the industry.
Ryan Seeley from British Gypsum also made an impactful visit, presenting students with a banner, posters, and informational literature. His visit marks the beginning of a fruitful collaboration, as Coventry College will soon enter the Thistle Partnership with British Gypsum. This partnership promises ongoing support, including talks and additional materials to further enrich the students’ education.
Additionally, Darren Chambers from Wemico showcased a sample panel demonstrating various beads and trims essential for plastering. This practical demonstration helped students visualise the components they will work with in the field, deepening their understanding of industry standards.
To further enhance their experience, students attended the Tool Fair at the CBS Arena, where they received a range of products, including tools, shirts, and hi-vis gear. This exposure not only equips students with necessary materials but also helps them network with professionals and understand the latest trends in construction.
