
Coventry College Impress on 10th Visit to Portugal Rugby Youth Festival

Coventry College marked a major milestone with their 10th appearance at the Portugal Youth Festival, delivering another impressive campaign against top international opposition in a highly competitive two-day tournament.
Facing some of the strongest youth teams from across the world, the college squad demonstrated resilience, skill, and determination throughout. A standout moment came during the group stages, where Coventry College went head-to-head with eventual tournament winners, the Portugal National U19s. In a high quality and fiercely contested fixture, the match ended in a 12–12 draw, a result that highlighted the strength and talent within the squad.
Preparation for the tournament included a focused and intensive training camp, ensuring players were fully equipped to meet the demands of international competition both physically and mentally.
Across the tournament, Coventry College produced an outstanding set of statistics, scoring 16 tries and conceding just three, with an impressive 94 points scored and only 29 conceded overall.

Head of Rugby, Pete Glackin, praised the group’s performance:
“We have been attending this tournament for a decade, and we understand how tough the rugby is in Lisbon. The players showcased their quality both on and off the pitch and delivered some outstanding performances as a group.”
