Coventry College Hosts Moving Remembrance Day Parade

Coventry College came together in a moment of reflection and respect as staff and students marked Remembrance Day with a heartfelt parade held on the college grounds.

The event was led by the college’s Uniformed Public Services students, who marched in formation to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country. They were proudly supported by learners from Performing Arts, whose contributions added a moving creative touch to the ceremony.

The proceedings began with a welcome and opening speech from Principal Carol, who spoke about the importance of remembrance and the values of unity and gratitude. The microphone was then passed to the Performing Arts students, who delivered a powerful rendition of “How will I know”, a performance that set a poignant tone for the rest of the event.

Following the performance, the Public Services students commenced their parade, displaying professionalism, discipline, and pride as they made their way through the college grounds. The ceremony concluded with a touching poem read by a Public Service student, the solemn sound of The Last Post, and a two-minute silence observed by all in attendance.

Coventry College was honoured to welcome Sergeant Reed and Paul Thandi CBE, Deputy Lieutenant, who joined the parade and paid their respects alongside staff and students.

Across the college, learners have also been honouring the memory of the fallen through creative displays and tributes. These include a striking statue of a soldier made entirely from crocheted poppies and a welded art piece depicting a battlefield scene, both symbolising the college’s deep respect and ongoing commitment to remembrance.

Through this event, Coventry College once again demonstrated the strength of community spirit and the importance of remembrance in educating and inspiring future generations.
