Coventry College Health and Social Care Students Enhance Employability Skills with Digital Innovators

Health and social care students at Coventry College are stepping up their game as they take part in an innovative week long course in collaboration with Digital Innovators.

Designed to prepare students for their upcoming second-year work placements, this course focuses on developing essential employability skills through hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving scenarios.

Digital Innovators, known for partnering with educational institutions to enhance student learning experiences, is leading the initiative. Over the course of the week, students have engaged in various activities aimed at honing their teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills, key competencies for their future careers in health and social care.

As part of the program, students have been tasked with tackling specific, real-life scenarios involving individuals with distinct challenges requiring improvement. In groups, they have been working diligently to devise innovative solutions that not only address the problems but also adhere to a designated budget. This practical exercise allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, preparing them for the complexities of their future roles.

The culmination of the course will see each group delivering a presentation to their peers and college managers. Utilising PowerPoint, students will outline their chosen scenario, the approach they took to develop a solution, and the reasoning behind their decisions. This presentation is not only a demonstration of their problem-solving capabilities but also an opportunity to display their teamwork and communication skills.

The feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing enthusiasm about the chance to work closely with their classmates and tackle challenging scenarios.
