Begin your welding career with our City & Guilds Award in Welding, taught in a modern facility built for practical welding instruction. Learn the fundamentals through extensive hands-on practical sessions, guided by seasoned professionals with real-world experience from automotive body repair, engineering, and manufacturing.

This introductory qualification equips you with essential welding skills and knowledge, enabling you to produce basic welded joints in common positions. Whether you’re aiming for industry roles, pursuing personal projects, or preparing for advanced certifications like NVQ Levels 1 or 2, this course provides a strong foundation.

This is your chance to ignite your passion for welding and develop valuable skills in a supportive, modern learning environment.

Assessment

You’ll demonstrate your proficiency through practical welding assessments and a verbal knowledge evaluation.

Duration of Study

Option 1, daytime: 6 weeks. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 6 hours each day.

Or

Option 2, evenings: 9 weeks, 2 sessions per week or 18 weeks, 1 session per week. Tuesday and Thursday 5.30pm – 8.30pm

This course is only available to those living within the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).

Although there are no specific entry requirements, you will be expected to be self-motivated and have an interest in Welding.

You will also be required to bring your own Safety Boots and Overalls; all Welding specific P.P.E will be supplied.

This course may be FREE under WMCA if you meet certain eligibility criteria or are unemployed.
