Skills Bootcamp: Solar PV Installation

This comprehensive course is designed specifically for existing roofers, roofer’s mates, and labourers who are looking to expand their skill set by specialising in solar photovoltaic (PV) system installations. This course will provide you with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to confidently and safely work in the growing renewable energy sector.

Introduction

The course starts with learning the importance of solar energy and its role in sustainable development. You’ll learn the fundamentals of solar PV technology and its relevance in today’s energy landscape.

This course is ideal for existing roofers, roofer’s mates, and labourers who are interested in pursuing a specialisation in solar PV installation. While no formal electrical experience is necessary, a basic understanding of roofing principles and construction would be advantageous.

This course is fully funded for those living or planning to work in the West Midlands, unemployed individuals, those that are self-employed or those not being co-funded by their employers. 90% funding is available for SMEs and 70% funding is available for other businesses.

To be funded by the WMCA, residents must:

be aged 19+
have the right to work in the UK
live in the West Midlands and/or going to work within the West Midlands.
