About Skills Bootcamps

If you’re aged 19 and over and looking to change sectors or progress in your current industry, a Skills Bootcamp could be your next step to a better job.

Developed in partnership with local employers, education providers and authorities, Skills Bootcamps aim to help fill skills gaps and vacancies in local areas.

Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer.

A Skills Bootcamp could be for you if you are employed in the Construction sector or unemployed and living or currently working in the West Midlands area. You may be looking to progress in your current role, or looking to change jobs or explore working in the construction industry.

Multi Skills retrofit Property Maintenance Skills Bootcamp

Our Multi Skills property Maintenance Technician Skills Bootcamp will give you the chance to learn a range of construction skills that will provide you with an opportunity to gain a new role working within the Construction sector.

During the Skills Bootcamp, you’ll learn to carry out a range of skills such as:

  • Carpentry techniques
  • Plastering & patching
  • P & D
  • Wall tiling
  • Mastics & Ceiling

In addition, you will undertake the NOCN Cskills Awards Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment which will enable application for a CSCS card.

 

You will also undertake the Level 2 Award in Domestic Retrofit, in order to understand the basic principles of domestic retrofit and its importance in the construction industry.

Duration

You’ll attend college from 9am-5pm for 3 weeks.

Personal, protective equipment

A hard hat and high-vis will be provided. Please wear your own safety boots.

What it can lead to

No previous knowledge in the subject is needed – you just need a good grasp of the English language and the willingness to learn new skills.

Our Skills Bootcamp is fully funded for those living or planning to work in the West Midlands, unemployed individuals, those that are self-employed or those not being co-funded by their employers. 90% funding is available for SMEs and 70% funding is available for other businesses.

To be funded by the WMCA, residents must:

  • be aged 19+
  • have the right to work in the UK
  • meet residency requirements
  • live in England and

are either a West Midlands resident and/or move into a role within the West Midlands.
