Course Overview
This exciting course is designed to give you an introduction to the travel and aviation industry, developing your skills and confidence to progress to the next level of study and the work place.
Units you will study include:
- Worldwide and UK travel destinations
- Aviation terminology
- Airport locational geography
- Preparing to work in the aviation industry
- Customer service
- UK visitor attractions
- Investigating the travel industry
- Displaying travel and tourism products and services
- Working in a team
- Holiday sales
- Problem solving
- Time management
You will be assessed by coursework related activities and practical assessments through role plays and simulations. Your teachers will guide you through each assessment.
You will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of trips and visits throughout the course including an induction trip, airport visits, trips to local travel and tourism organisations and a celebration end of year visit. We also have many employers and guest speakers visit throughout the year where you will have the chance to learn about careers and how to apply for jobs in the travel sector.
On successful completion of the course students can progress to the L2 Certificate in Cabin Crew and Tourism.
There is no formal uniform, however, we do have a travel and tourism team hoody we suggest our learners purchase, information given at enrolment. There are no required textbooks or kit, we just ask all learners start their course with a notepad, pens and a folder to file work and class notes.
• 4 GCSEs at grade 2. This must include English Language and maths
• Successful completion of an interview with a member of the team
• A positive reference
Course is free for 16-18 year olds.
College has the Learner Support Fund available for students to apply for help towards bus passes, lunch, trips etc. Information will be given at enrolment about this.

Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
