Level 5 HND in Business
This Higher National Diploma in Business is to develops students to be professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the business sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualifications aim to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them.

This programme will be delivered in four three hour sessions a week, encompassing of a combination of the following:
- Teaching and Learning Sessions
Lectures will be delivered by tutors to inform you of the historical, contextual and theoretical aspects of business. Lectures will provide a framework for learning and are encouraged to actively contribute to your learning. Access to books, journals, publications, computer-based resources and videos provide current information and research findings to help you with a wide range of learning techniques.
- Blended Learning
There will be opportunities during the programme to complete studies through a blended learning approach. This will involve the use of the college virtual learning environment (VLE), where you may attend discussion forums and produce blogs/online journals.
- Personal Tutors and Personal Development Planning
One-to-one tutorials are provided, and these may cover any aspect of the programme, alongside reviewing personal development. It is college policy that you will have at least one tutorial per term. You can attend either a timetabled tutorial or arrange a meeting with the personal tutor at a mutually convenient time.
- Independent Study
The programme will be made up predominantly of independent study. In addition to the timetabled lessons you will be expected to commit to an additional 100 hours of independent study per module.
- Study Skills
Study skills are an essential part of the studies and you will develop these skills during the study programme.
- Employability/Career/Progression Preparation
As part of the programme you will develop a range of transferable skills that will enhance your employability and career prospects.
Visits to local businesses and Universities
How you will be assessed
Assessment will take place in a variety of ways including projects, assignments, presentations and reports.
All assessed work will be returned to you within an agreed timescale, accompanied by completed feedback sheet; praising the positive, indicating areas for improvement and setting realistic and achievable goals.
All assessed work is subject to moderation. All students will have a sample of their work moderated and regarded by a second marker throughout their studies. To ensure the grades issued are in-line with the academic standards set out by the awarding body, your work will also be subject to further moderation and quality checks by an external examiner.
You can progress on to a BA Hons degree in a number of business-related topics.
This qualification costs £5,500.00.

Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
