A variety of teaching techniques will be used by the teaching team. The aim is to present interesting, informative and qualification and level relevant content – which will enable you to have the maximum possible opportunity to achieve the highest grade of which they are capable. All modules, assignments and sessions will have clearly defined learning outcomes.

This programme will be delivered by means of the following distinct types of delivery:

1. Teaching and Learning Sessions – Teaching and learning sessions will be delivered in HE-specific classrooms with specialised engineering software to include CAD and CAD/CAM. It will cover the indicative content for the learning outcomes for each specified module. Further assessment for learning methods of teaching will be used to develop different student learning styles.

2. Seminars – Throughout the year there will be scheduled seminars to support you with completion of assessed work.

3. Independent Study – Throughout the programme you will be required to be self-led and actively engage in independent study in order to progress at a high level. Guidance will be provided by the subject specialist; however a distinct amount of effort and time will be expected. In addition to timetabled lessons you will be expected to commit to an additional 100 hours of independent study per module.

4. Study Skills – As part of the course there will be a dedicated study skills module that will develop the required study skills needed for the course.

Your progress on the programme will be monitored by continuous assessment. This will include assignments, class exercises, phase tests and other appropriate methods.

Feedback on programme:

Each module will be graded as a pass, merit or distinction. A pass is awarded for the achievement of all outcomes against the specific assessment criteria. Merit and distinction grades are awarded for higher level achievement.

All assessed work will be returned to you within an agreed timescale, accompanied by completed feedback sheet; praising the positive, indicating areas for improvement and setting realistic and achievable goals.

All assessed work is subject to moderation. All students will have a sample of their work moderated and regarded by a second marker throughout their studies. To ensure the grades issued are in line with the academic standards set out by the awarding body, your work will also be subject to further moderation and quality checks by an external examiner.

You can progress onto degree level study at university.

The Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering is an essential entry requirement.

This course costs £2,950.00.
