Course Overview
The TV & Film industry is suffering a technical skills shortage. There is demand not just for an employee to point a camera, but to have the necessary knowledge base to understand the relationship between location, props, lighting, hardware, software and viewing platforms.
This course aims to provide its participants with practical film production skills grounded in simulated industry practise. The course is split into core modules that will develop visual and auditory technical understanding, and experiment with techniques & processes linked industry job roles. In additional to this the course also aims to develop to critical and reflective thinking, as well as other skills and knowledge bases that will support an employee working in the future TV & Film industry.
There is also a high demand for producers and content creators. You will learn how to follow emerging funding trends and how to design content to best approach the rounds of funding. You will produce and direct a short film of any genre that is to be submitted to regional, national and international film competitions. Learners will support each other in different roles to produce their films, meaning you will develop understanding of different roles.
students will benefit from our contacts with local and regional studios and potential work placement opportunities. Guest speakers from industry will be secured to share their experiences and insights. We also encourage and support learners in their search for employment following the course.
You will need one of the following:
- 96 UCAS points with a minimum of Grade D from at least one A Level
Course fees: £5,225 per year

Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
