Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy

Course Overview

The VTCT Skills Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy is a vocationally related qualification that will prepare you to gain employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist.

This is a vocational qualification which builds on beauty therapy skills to allow you to develop an enhanced repertoire of advanced specialist beauty therapy techniques

This is aimed at therapists already completed their Level 3 qualification.

Course Structure

You will study 9 mandatory units including:

• Laser and light treatments for hair removal
• Laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation
• Microdermabrasion techniques
• Dermatology and microbiology
• Chemistry of hair and beauty products
• Physiology of ageing
• Management of health, safety and security in the salon Quality management of client care and salon management

Plus a further 10 credits from optional units that will give you the opportunity to further develop your knowledge and skills.

You will be offered opportunities to visit a range of course-related exhibitions and activities designed to keep you up-to-date with developments within the industry, as well as being part of guest industry talks and career sessions.

You will be assessed by practical observations, written assignments and some units have a written test. Practical assessments will be carried out in our on site therapy rooms with external clients.

You will be required to wear scrubs uniform in line with industry and awarding body standards with flat shoes, no jewellery for practical activities, long hair must be tied back, no nails or nail products to be worn.

A kit will also be required to complete the course. All of this information will be given at enrolment.

The course is part time over 35 weeks, starting in September. This will be a full day in college and an evening, full timetable to be confirmed. There is also an expectation students work from home to complete assignments therefore must have PC/laptop access and WIFI.

On successful completion of this course you can seek employment as a Senior Beauty Therapist in a wide range of beauty therapy settings.

Entry on to this qualification can be via previous attainment of a beauty therapy qualification at level 3.
You should have good communication skills, and a positive attitude to learning and have a real passion for the beauty industry.
All candidates will have an interview on application and details will then be given for enrolment.
