This course is designed to give you the skills you need to progress into employment in this exciting industry, with careers working for an airline, in the airport, on-board cruise ships, working abroad as a holiday rep, event and tourism management and many many more.

Over the course of the 2 years you will study a wide range of units exploring both vocational and academic elements, as this course also allows progression into higher education for those considering university. Not just in Tourism Management, you can progress to study degrees in Airport management, Event Management, just to name a few.

The course tutors are experts in the area and are able to share their experiences and knowledge with all of their students. They are so passionate for this industry.

You will have the opportunity to participate in trips and visits throughout the course; including an overseas residential trip, local tourist attractions, team building trips, attend exhibitions and join the team on an end of year celebration trip.

As part of your study programme you will also carry out work experience. The department work closely with Butlins Holiday Parks, Disneyland Paris, British Airways and Birmingham Airport to support you in your first steps in the travel industry.

Alongside this, you may need to take GCSE maths re takes, and you will also complete a mandatory personal development programme.

4 GCSE’s at a minimum grade 4 or above. Grade 4 minimum, is mandatory for English Language.

A relevant Level 2 qualification such as Travel and Tourism with a merit profile

Successful interview with the Travel team

Positive school reference

Written task at enrolment may also be required

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
