Level 3 Diploma in Dance
If you are interested in a career in dance and want an A level equivalent course which offers excellent vocational training in a variety of styles and aspects of this exciting discipline, this course could be the right choice for you. This is a Study Programme course which, if successful, leads to the 90 credit qualification over one year and progression to the full 180 credit qualification over 2 years. It will provide you with a strong foundation for progression into higher education or a career within the performing arts or entertainment, leisure or communications industries. It can also provide you with valuable UCAS points.
You will also have opportunities to enhance your choreographic and teaching skills throughout the course, along with developing an awareness and understanding of the business and marketing aspects of the performing arts industry. Setting you up with an excellent foundation of skills and knowledge for progression into Higher Education and/or Employment. Past students have gone on to gain places at some of the U.K’s most exciting and prestigious universities and training schools including: Laban School of Contemporary Dance, The Urdang Academy, Coventry University, Kingston University and LIPA. Others have set up successful dance schools and academies.
Additionally, there are lots of enrichment opportunities built into the course which supports your development. Activities can include learning additional dance styles and working with professional dancers and choreographers. Not to mention lots of fantastic trips and performance opportunities.
You can also study this course if you want to gain UCAS points for alternative subject study at university. Not to mention develop some excellent and invaluable transferable skills.
The college is well-resourced with excellent performing arts facilities including four purpose-built performing arts studios complete with sound, lighting and video production systems and a purpose built dance studio including a fully functional sound system, ballet barres, mirrors and sprung floor. Teachers have excellent subject knowledge and have worked within professional context.
The course pays heavy focus to vocational and practical dance training. You will study a wide range of dance styles during the course including:
- Street Dance
- Contemporary Dance
- Jazz & Commercial Dance
- Musical Theater
- International genres incl African and Bollywood Dance
- Dance Theater
As well as all of the above other exciting units you will study include:
- Performing to an Audience.
- Dance Performance.
- Performing Arts Business
- Dance Appreciation
- Marketing for the performing arts
Practical studies are delivered within state of the art dance and performance studios. Theory aspects of the course are also delivered within exceptional classrooms with great resources.
This course is a Study Programme which consists of:
- Vocational Qualification
- Work Experience
* If you have not already achieved a GCSE pass at Grade 4 (C in the old grading structure) or above in English & maths you will study either or both of these subjects as an integral part of your college programme.
4 GCSE’s Grade 4 (C in the old grading structure) or above including English or maths. Successful completion of a practical dance audition / workshop and interview.

We will check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you’ll receive an invitation via email to attend an interview with a Curriculum Tutor.
Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
From entry-level qualifications, through to degree-level and specialist professional courses there’s something here for students with little or no formal education right up to career high-flyers. Expect a vibrant environment where you can meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
