Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dance
If you are interested in a career in dance and are looking for an A-level equivalent course which offers excellent vocational training in a variety of styles and aspects of this exciting discipline, this course could be the right choice for you. This is a Study Programme course which can lead to the achievement of the full 180-credit extended diploma in dance qualification over two years. It will provide you with a strong foundation for progression into higher education or a career within in the dance, health and fitness, performing arts, or entertainment industries.

All of our sessions are led by subject specialists all of whom are successful practitioners in the field of dance. As a member of Invoke Dance Company, you will receive regular performance opportunities both internally and at external platforms across the Midlands. Many of our dancers have successfully gained places at some of the UK’s most prestigious conservatoires and universities, such as:
- Trinity Laban Conservatoire
- Northern Ballet School
- The Urdang Academy
- University of Surrey
- Middlesex University
- Those who wish to continue their training locally will usually audition for our HND Dance programme held at City Campus.
This course pays heavy focus to process, in that you will have the opportunity to enhance your choreographic skills under the supervision of mentors and professionals within the field. You will also develop a sound awareness of the business and marketing aspects of the dance and performing arts industry.
Additionally, you will receive training, advice and guidance in tailored areas of health, fitness, anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, dance psychology, strength and conditioning. Dancers attend regular physiological monitoring, weekly gym sessions and have access to a wide range of facilities and equipment that will facilitate their development as a dancer.
There are many enrichment opportunities built into the course that support your development. We offer masterclasses and workshops with professional artists and choreographers, we host platforms to work alongside various youth and graduate companies, not to mention the residential visits and performance trips we attend.
The college is well-resourced with excellent performing arts facilities, including four purpose-built performing arts studios complete with sound, lighting and video production systems and a purpose-built dance studio including a fully functional sound system, ballet barres, mirrors and sprung floor.
4 GCSE’s Grade 4 (C in the old grading structure) or above including English or maths. Successful completion of a practical dance audition/workshop and interview.
Making your application
We will check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you’ll receive an invitation via email to attend an interview with a Curriculum Tutor.
Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
From entry-level qualifications, through to degree-level and specialist professional courses there’s something here for students with little or no formal education right up to career high-flyers. Expect a vibrant environment where you can meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
