This is the qualification you need to work as a beauty therapist on cruise liners and in spas. It also enables you to start your own business as a therapist. You will provide treatments to clients in the College’s realistic salon environment.

Course Structure


You will study:

  • Body massage
  • Posture analysis Diet and nutrition
  • Facial electrotherapy
  • Indian head massage
  • Stone therapy massage
  • Client care and communication
  • Plus nationally recognised Functional Skills qualifications

You will enjoy a range of course-related visits to exhibitions including Beauty UK. Work placements will be arranged in areas of personal interest such as salons, health clubs and health farms. You will also have the opportunity to enter competitions such as World Skills. You will I be assessed on practical assessments and on external online examinations. You can progress into employment in the beauty therapy industry in salons, cosmetic sales, health clubs and cruise liners.

* If you have not already achieved a GCSE pass at grade 4 (C in the old grading structure) or above in English and Maths you will study Maths and/ or English as an integral part of your college programme.

You will need to have completed a full level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification (to include facial unit) before they can join this study programme. Plus, you will need to have a minimum functional skills at level one and working towards a level two. A trade test may be required to demonstrate skills and you will be expected to attend a taster session to gain an understanding of the course requirements.

This course is free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

If you're aged 19+ you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of the course.

Please note that the purchase of kits and uniforms is mandatory. Cost of kits and uniform start at around £200, tutors will give more information at enrolment and give you order forms. Funding from the Learner Support Fund may be available if you are eligible.

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
