Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Early Years
This course is for anyone wanting to progress in a supervisory role in the sector. You will be employed working with babies and children in a variety of settings including nurseries, crèches and pre-schools. This apprenticeship will enable you to build on your knowledge and expertise in childcare.
Relevant job roles include:
- Nursery Worker/Supervisor
- Nursery Nurse
- Nursery Teaching Assistant
This course is delivered in your workplace, however College attendance may be necessary for functional skills/GCSE classes. You will be allocated a personal assessor who will guide and support you with training, assessment and portfolio building.
As well as earning a wage you will gain experience of working in a supervisory role in a childcare environment. The apprenticeship will enable you to further develop the childcare skills and knowledge that employers require as well as transferable skills such as English and Maths.
Successful completion of the course will give you the potential for career progression to:
- Nursery Supervisor
- Nursery Manager
- Pre-school Manager/Co-ordinator
- Foundation Degree in Early Years

- Promoting Learning and Development in Early Years

Qualifications awarded for successful completion involve:
- Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
- GCSE English
- GCSE Mathematics
Alternatively you may wish to consider an Advanced Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
You will need to be working within a childcare setting, have obtained or working towards GCSE Grade 4 (C in the old grading structure) in English and maths, and have successfully completed a relevant Level 2 course or have significant experience to embark on the Level 3 Qualification.
