This course is for learners who are 18 and over.

The fast track Access to Higher Education course prepares you to study at university and is also widely recognised by employers, studied over 6 Months. It is designed for those who have left school without the usual qualifications such as A Levels.

Within the course we offer 3 subjects which have been especially selected to fulfil university entry requirements:

  • Psychology
  • Biology
  • Sociology & Health Studies

You will study a range of modules that will make up 45 credits:

  • The Human Muscular and Skeletal System
  • Human Nutrition and Digestive System
  • Social Psychology
  • Abnormal Psychology
  • Sociology of the Family
  • Health Promotions

In addition to the 45 credits a further 15 credits will be ungraded, 6 credits will be from study skills and the further 9 credits will be from core modules.

You will be assessed via a range of methods including essays, reports, presentations, projects and examinations.

Upon successful completion of the course, you can progress to university to study subjects such as Mental Health Nursing, Adult Nursing, Midwifery, Learning Difficulties Nursing and many others.

You will need to show that you have sufficient skills in English and maths, which means satisfying one of the following requirements: English GCSE grade 4 (C) or above, maths GCSE grade 4 (C) or above or Level 2 or equivalent.

Making your application

Fees and funding

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
