Course Overview

The Level 2 Diploma is the natural progression from Level 1 and will give you a more detailed insight into the industry of plastering. With the skills that you have gained from Level 1 Plastering, you will learn key plastering skills that involve a more in-depth look at the assessments you already know. This will be from experts in the sector with many years trade experience. You will also be taught how to understand key elements from the Principles of Building Unit, working drawings, types of structures, use of different plastering materials as well as understanding life on a typical construction building site.

What you will learn

  • Up to date health and safety requirements essential for working on a building site
  • Types of plastering materials and application techniques
  • Render/ board and skim application
  • Understand working drawings
  • Floor screeds / fibrous work.

The course also offers a basic understanding of Principles of Building including:

  • Roof construction traditional and modern
  • Foundation construction
  • Flooring construction methods used
  • Timber-frame construction.

Additional information

You will be required, at all times, to wear safety boots and work trousers. To access the facilities inside the college, you will need a set of clean clothes and footwear to change in to.

Level 1 Diploma in Plastering and GCSE English and Mathematics Grade 3 or above and be genuinely interested in the construction industry. Entry will be subject to a satisfactory reference and interview.

This course is free for those aged 16-18.
