What does the qualification cover?

The purpose of the qualification is to increase your knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health. You will learn about mental health problems commonly associated with children and young people, the impact of mental-ill health on children and young people and support available to maintain well-being in children and young people.

Who is suitable for?

This is a knowledge based qualification and is designed for a wide range of learners who wish to gain an understanding of the children and young people’s mental health.

How is the qualification structured?

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health you are required to successfully complete the mandatory units:

  • Understand children and young people’s mental health in context
  • Understand factors which may affect children and young people’s mental health
  • Understand children and young people’s mental health concerns
  • Understand the impact of children and young people’s mental health concerns
  • Understand how to support children and young people’s mental health concerns

How is it assessed?

To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health, you must successfully demonstrate your achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. You must be aged 19+ and resided in the EU for the last 3 years in order to access funding.

This course is free of charge*, however, there is a charge of £50 which will be payable if you do not complete the course.
