Level 2 GCSE in Maths
If you need to retake GCSE Mathematics, this part-time daytime or evening intensive course offers you the opportunity to obtain this qualification in one year. It is also suitable for mature students who need GCSE Maths for career purposes or for higher education.
The course is provisionally available on the following days & times and is taught at both our City and Henley campuses:
- Tuesday 9am – 12:15pm
- Wednesday 1:15pm – 4:30pm
- Friday 9am – 12:15pm
- Tuesday 5.30pm – 8.30pm
- Thursday 5.30pm – 8.30pm

The course runs from September to June. During the year, you will be assessed via three final exams in May/June. Learners must be available for external exams on the following dates:
Tuesday 21 May
Paper 1: Non-Calculator
Thursday 6 June
Paper 2: Calculator
Tuesday 11 June
Paper 3: Calculator
On successful completion of this course you should be able to progress to the following:
- Vocational course
- Access to Higher Education
- Higher Education
This course can help you progress on to the next stage of your career.
You need to provide evidence that you are capable of succeeding at GCSE level. This could be one of the following:
GCSE Grade D in Mathematics
NEW GCSE Grade 3 in Mathematics
At least a Level 1 in Functional Skills Maths
Initial assessment at Level 1
A place on the course is subject to a successful interview with the course tutor.
If you are 19+, the course is free if you have not yet already achieved A* to C or 9 to 4 with the new grading scale.
It is free for 16-18 year olds on study programmes.
Making your application
We will check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you’ll receive an invitation via email to attend an interview with a Curriculum Tutor.
Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
From entry-level qualifications, through to degree-level and specialist professional courses there’s something here for students with little or no formal education right up to career high-flyers. Expect a vibrant environment where you can meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
