This is a hands-on and theoretical City & Guilds course where you learn some of the key skills required for a career in the motor industry. It’s designed for students who have completed a first-year training course in motor vehicle body repair and painting, and who want to extend their skills. It would suit college-based students. The course is perfect if you appreciate this good grounding but want to extend your qualifications with a view to developing a career as a paint technician or progressing to an NVQ Level 3 qualification. The City & Guilds is a leader in vocational qualifications, and employers respect this qualification for delivering the skills the automotive industry requires to better serve customers. What you will learn;

  • Preparation of body panels
  • Foundation coats to body panels
  • Painting of body panels
  • Paint fault rectification

This course is a Study Programme which consists of:

  • Vocational Qualification
  • Work Experience
  • Tutorial
  • Maths*
  • English*

* If you have not already achieved a GCSE pass at grade C or above in English and Maths you will study Maths and/ or English as an integral part of your college programme.

You have already achieved the City & Guilds Vehicle Body Repair Level 1 course.
grade 4 in English and Maths.

Course is free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
