Course Overview

This qualification will provide you with knowledge, understanding and basic skills to work competently as a barber.

It is a part time evening course.

As part of this course, you will be engaged in creative competitions, have the opportunity to visit exhibitions and trade shows and work closely with Industry who provide frequent in house demonstrations to prepare you commercially. Our salons are commercially equip to replicate Industry life and is open to the public for you to practise your skills

You will be assessed on a range of practical skills and knowledge which is delivered through blended learning. Assessments are carried out through practical assessments, assignments and external on line exams.

  • Working in the hair industry
  • Follow health and safety in the salon
  • Client Consultation for hair services
  • Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
  • Promote products and services to clients in a salon
  • Cut men’s hair
  • Cut facial hair
  • Style men’s hair
  • Provide scalp massage services

On being interviewed, Maths and English levels will be tested to ensure you have a level to complete the course. The minimum being L1 Functional Skills, working towards a L2 We do offer Maths and English courses should you need further requirements.

If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
