Level 2 Certificate in Performing Engineering Operations
This is a work-related, nationally recognised qualification designed for you if you are interested in taking a first step towards an engineering career.
Practical machining skills leading to a Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 qualification and theoretical knowledge leading to a BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Engineering.
You will enjoy a range of course-related visits to engineering companies. Talks by guest speakers from local industry will also be organised. We will also help you to find a work placement.
You will be continually assessed by observation and product manufacture. Each Edexcel unit will be assessed individually by coursework via internally set marked assignments.
On successful completion of this course, you could progress to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering or other opportunities within the engineering sector.
This course requires one GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in maths, English or science or a Level 1 Diploma.
Course may be free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

Making your application
We will check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you’ll receive an invitation via email to attend an interview with a Curriculum Tutor.
Fees and funding
If you are aged 16-18 and applying for a full-time programme, then you will not have to pay for your course. If you are aged 19+ then there may be a fee for your course.
From entry-level qualifications, through to degree-level and specialist professional courses there’s something here for students with little or no formal education right up to career high-flyers. Expect a vibrant environment where you can meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
